[ the world spins on without him. it's a concept he has come to learn, one that he has refused to face while in his alternate world. now in this city, with iris acting as she had always behaved, he's found the void he felt in those three months back in "central city" had been greater than he had ever thought. running away from his own fears has been something barry excels at. running into heroism is something he'll never give himself credit for. ]
[ things have changed for him here. that complacency he feels is lifting since her arrival and his knee-jerk reactions to help people cross the road safely or stop robbers from lifting backs from the shoulder of a woman, but there's a bigger storm approaching, and barry's unsure if it's entirely bad. ]
[ the flash is starting to make a difference here. and barry allen's still not quite sure where he fits in when it comes to a league of extraordinary people doing extraordinary things. and he feels the desire intensifying to talk to the most extraordinary person he knows. ]
Do you have time to fit me into your busy flower arranging schedule?
If need be, I will order two dozen bouquets of irises just for good measure.

[ His timing couldn't have been any better. While Iris's grown to adore the steady, comfortable routine of a florist, it's not the job she had chosen for herself (by a long shot). But it pays the bills - and it allows her to bring home beautiful, fresh bouquets every day. Those bouquets also serve as a reminder of who she'd be, if she didn't keep pursuing journalism with all her heart.
She's just about done for the day; only one more arrangement - a wedding bouquet - to finish. As soon as she sees his message, though, she texts back: ]

[ The cute polka-dotted box with candy-cane ribbons is actually delivered to Iris ahead of time, with the sticky note of 'don't touch until Christmas'. He doesn't know where she lives, after all, so he just asked her boss to pass this along to her.
Inside the box there's the usual tissue paper, a neatly folded and printed card, as well as a cellophane-wrapped packet of frosted sugar cookies and intricately decorated chocolate truffles. The real present is, however, the pretty journal; several pressed flowers are carefully glued onto the cover and arranged in a tasteful design. Inside, the first few pages and the last few have watercolor landscapes of calm grassy fields and lakes, dotted with wildflowers.
The card reads: 'A journalist should have a place for notes, right? Though I'm sure you have something of your own, I wanted to give you something, too. Merry Christmas! - Hajime' ]

As promised, here's a greeting now that I've safely landed on the island. Once I remember how to send photos, I'll send you what I've taken so far. It's incredibly beautiful! And I've never seen such a horizon before...it looks like the ocean goes on forever and ever.
Right now, Owain is tending to the guests and debriefing them on the events that will take place over the course of the month. Apparently there's to be a party shortly after...which I assume will be VERY shortly, since I doubt he'll have the patience to lecture for very long.

Off the record, anonymous, I'm not in charge or even a representative, but I bet you're looking into the Mars mission with all the locals organizing protests and everything: We're not "militarizing space" at this stage, not really. We're following up on the OTO trying to nuke us during that time loop - imPorts traced it back to them and they have a missile launch platform on Phobos. We don't have a ship (yet) and we haven't even managed to agree on whether we're going for recon, diplomacy, or retaliation.
It just sucks that they don't remember the time loop so they don't get that we're doing this to try and protect them.

Yeah, I agree. The paper wants to put imPorts on blast (#yikes), but I never thought it was that black and white to begin. Keep me posted when you guys agree on your type of mission, and what I can publish, and I'll pitch those articles ASAP.

Sometime toward the end of August, Iris will find an elegantly arranged gift basket hand-delivered to her by courier. Within is a tasteful array of artisan snacks and candies; a fine bottle of wine or liquor, or perhaps some gourmet coffee instead; a piece of handcrafted jewelry or small piece of art; and a black leather envelope clutch containing vouchers for various high end restaurants, theaters, entertainment venues, and spas around Maurtia Falls. In fact, everything down to the very basket itself seem to have been manufactured in Maurtia Falls.
A handwritten card accompanies the gifts. It reads:
"Maurtia Falls deserves to be celebrated for the incredible achievements it is already home to. If you believe that imPorts should play our part in elevating one of our Porter cities beyond its reputation, then Logan Delos is the ambassadorial candidate most deserving of your vote."
It's finished with Logan's scrawling signature, and contact information for his campaign, should anyone want to get in touch with him.
On the other side of the card is an additional note that reads:
"Ms. West - your name has come up several times when I've looked into imPort journalists. I'd like to personally offer you the first interview of my campaign, if you're interested. Let me know. - L.D."
